Tuesday 15th March Newsletter

As a school, we are supporting a nationwide alert system called Child Rescue Alert. It is run by the National Crime Agency, the charity Missing People and technology company Groupcall and has the potential to save a child’s life in the event that a child is missing and believed to be at imminent risk of serious harm or death. Registration is free and takes just minutes to complete, online or by text; by registering you will receive alerts to tell you that a child is in danger in your local area. It is so important that these alerts are raised as quickly as possible as statistics show that the initial hours after a child is abducted are crucial, and a sighting by a member of the public can lead to the safe recovery of the child.

To register please text HERO and your postcode to 85080, alternatively for more information or to register online please go to: www.childrescuealert.org.uk

Should you have any queries regarding this, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Parent Focus Group Meeting

As you are aware we hold a Parent Focus Group on the 2nd Friday of every term, it has proved as a valuable forum for us as a school to get feedback from parents and for us to share new ideas with you. This term we were joined by our Chair of Governors, Wayne Wills and as a group we looked at the values we strive to achieve for your children here at Repton Manor. The parents present at the meeting collectively stated that they were finding it difficult to engage their children in the home learning projects and they didn't have time to complete the two projects set per term. Due to this, we raised a discussion with staff about the amount of home learning the children take home and a decision has been made that one piece of topic based home learning will be sent home from now on but we will continue to set weekly reading, spelling and maths home learning as normal. This topic learning is always hoped to be an opportunity to engage in a fun and thought provoking project with your children and we hope to see the fantastic creations you and your children create together which will continue to feed into their topic for the rest of the term. If you have any questions, please speak to your child's class teacher.
