Message from the Chair:
Lightyear Federation, established July 2022, combining our schools with similar great aspirations for our children with Caring, Dreaming, Thinking bigger as our combined culture.
- Caring - Our 100% commitment is to our children and every aspect of their growth and wellbeing. Our nurture ethos centres on all the needs of our children.
- Dreaming - Our federation strives to provide aspirational environments to enable and nurture our children to engage and learn in as many directions as their imaginations may wander.
- Thinking Bigger - School life should evolve and develop to expand the experiences available to our children at all times. We strive to improve, grow and create better and bigger environments and experiences for our children through continued collaboration between schools, stakeholders, parents, children and our communities.

Lightyear Federation Governing Body
Chair: Wayne Wills
The Governing Body of a school or federation is responsible for ensuring that it is run to promote pupil progress and achievement.
Its duties include:

Setting strategic direction, policies, ethos, vision and objectives.

Approving the school budget and reviewing progress against the school's budget and objectives as set out in the school improvement plan.

Appointing, challenging and supporting the Executive Headteacher and Heads of School, holding the senior leaders to account for the education of our learners.
Repton Manor Primary School belongs to the Lightyear Federation. Our Governing Body is dedicated to working in partnership with the management of the school and the local community in order to ensure that all children have access to an excellent education and that the school always strives for continued progress in all areas for all children and groups of children.
The Governing Body strongly promotes the schools nurturing ethos towards learning but also its dynamic attitude towards community inclusion, children’s wellbeing, nurture and involvement with helping our children to learn, have fun learning and improve social and physical awareness. Nurture is a major element in the schools ethos with a strong belief that our children will have a balanced education across all their needs.
The Lightyear Federation Governing body have the following responsibilities: Responsible for monitoring pupils and groups progress and achievement, against the School Improvement plan and national targets as well as understanding the needs of the children within the school and ensuring the school meets those educational needs as best as it can. The Governing Body monitor and agree the school 3-year budget annually, ensuring spending complies with national and local requirements. They benchmark spending to ensure best value as well as spending in line with school improvement plan targets. They monitor the staffing structure and ensure efficient and well managed personnel to maximise school results with well-established wellbeing of the staff maintained.
Governor attendance in school
Our Lightyear Federation Governors meet regularly to discuss the strategic direction of the federation. The Executive Headteacher and the Heads of Schools report to Governors on the Curriculum, Finance, Health and Safety, Premises and Staffing matters to be challenged, discussed and reviewed.
In addition to meetings, the Governors visit the school to:

Take part in training.

Observe and meet with curriculum leaders, pupils and staff.

Carry out health and safety inspections.

Confirm the implementation of school policies.

Become acquainted with the school.

Monitor attendance, child protection and school financial procedures.

Meet local residents, community groups and parent forums.

Take part in school events and support the school, staff and volunteers.

Engage in Learning Walks during the school day to monitor the School Improvement Plan.

Visit the school, talk to parents, staff and discus/investigate our ethos statement to ensure it still represents the school.
